Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Azwaj app and website (“Azwaj”, “we”, “us”). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using Azwaj, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Azwaj.

1. Who can use Azwaj

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• Azwaj is for individuals genuinely seeking marriage (nikah) in a manner consistent with Islamic values.
• You may hold one account and must provide honest, accurate information about yourself.
• You must not use Azwaj if you are legally barred from doing so, or if your account was previously removed for a violation.

2. Your account

You sign in with your phone number. You are responsible for keeping access to your number secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. How you must behave

Azwaj is a space for respectful, marriage-minded Muslims. You agree that you will not:

• Create fake profiles, impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your age, gender, or marital status.
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or disrespect other members.
• Share other members’ photos or private information, or pressure anyone to bypass photo/contact consent.
• Use Azwaj for anything other than a genuine marriage search: no soliciting, advertising, scamming, or collecting data.
• Attempt to scrape, hack, overload, or interfere with the service.

We may remove content, and suspend or delete accounts, that break these rules.

4. Your photos and content

You keep ownership of the photos and information you add. You grant Azwaj a limited licence to store and display your content within the service, according to your privacy settings, so we can operate matchmaking for you. You confirm you have the right to upload what you share, and that it does not break any law or anyone’s rights.

5. Verification and matchmaking

The verified badge helps build trust, but it is not a guarantee of anyone’s identity, character, or intentions. Azwaj facilitates introductions; we are not a party to any relationship and we do not guarantee matches, responses, or marriage. Please do your own due diligence, involve your wali and family, and meet safely.

6. Premium, Sparkles and payments

• Premium is a one-time purchase for the number of months you choose. Nothing renews automatically. Your Premium simply ends on its expiry date, and there is no subscription to cancel. Buying more months while you still have some left adds to your remaining time.
• Sparkles are a one-time consumable purchase. Sparkle packs are non-refundable; purchased Sparkles do not expire and remain yours even after a plan ends.
• Where you buy decides who refunds you. Purchases made inside the Android app are processed by Google Play, which is the seller for those purchases, so refunds for them must be requested through Google Play. Purchases made on azwaj.io or app.azwaj.io are processed by Razorpay and refunded by us.
• For purchases made on our website, you may request a full refund within 48 hours of payment. See the Cancellation & Refunds Policy for the full terms and for how to reach our grievance officer.
• Prices are shown before you pay, and the amount shown is the amount charged. Prices may change over time; a change never affects a purchase you have already made.

7. Safety, blocking and reporting

You can block and report members from within the app. We take reports seriously and may act on them, including removing content and accounts. Illegal or harmful conduct may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

8. Ending your use

You can delete your account any time: in the app (My Profile → “Delete my account”) or through our web deletion form. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms or that poses a risk to other members. Deletion is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Service “as is”

Azwaj is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any member’s information is accurate. We are not responsible for the conduct of any member, online or offline.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Azwaj and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, or for the actions of other members. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute will be subject to the courts having jurisdiction in India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Azwaj after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
